Tutorials / Editing Signs
« Last post by Vector on October 26, 2016, 03:49:25 PM »
There are a few ways to edit signs in an easy way. You can either use the /editsign command, edit sign wand, or by using a sign in hand.

/editsign

When using /editsign to edit a sign, a number of options are available:

Code: [Select]
/editsign <line number> <text>

This will edit a specific line of the sign with the given text.

Code: [Select]
/editsign <line number> <-clear, -c>

This will clear a specific line on the sign.

Edit Sign Wand

Taking a piece of paper, coupled with the /editsignwand command, you can set your edit sign wand to easily edit signs:

Code: [Select]
/editsignwand <line number> <text>

This will set a certain line of your edit sign wand to the specified text.

Code: [Select]
/editsignwand -blank, -b [line number]

This will cause a specific sign line to become blank, overwriting its contents when the wand is applied to a sign. Omitting [line number] will cause the entire wand to be blank. By default, lines that are not set will not overwrite a line of a sign, and must be made blank first.

Code: [Select]
/editsignwand -clear, -c [line number]

This will cause a line to be cleared on the edit sign wand. Omit [line number] to cause the entire wand to be cleared.

Code: [Select]
/editsignwand -view, -v

This will allow you to view the contents of your wand.

Using a Sign in Hand

Using a sign in your hand you can left-click a sign with another sign in hand to copy the text. Simply paste it onto a non-sign block with left-click to paste the previous sign's contents.

IDP Version 10.8.2

- Server performance may be much better when it comes to
performing large TinyWE operations and activating bridges
          - When acquiring flower pots with TinyWE, the contents will
automatically enter the player's inventory, but if unable
to acquire the pot or the contents, neither will go into
            the inventory
          - Edit Sign Wand overhaul
            - /editsignwand changes
              - Added -blank (-b) [line] to cause a line to become blank

            - When using the edit sign wand with a sign, lines must be made blank
in order to clear them on the sign

or they have access to the lot
          - Added /die, re-adding the functionality of the former suicide command
          - All lots that were loaded in dynamic worlds (not loaded on startup)
are shown in green in /mylots and sorted at the end by lot number
which will prevent confusion and sublots are shown in white
            instead of gray
Bugfix: Guests no longer have god mode!
Bugfix: The URL to the rules was not properly shown when messaging
                  players during certain intervals

All About Development / Re: 5 years

I remember when I first joined the server. MinyMiloCat, Russian14Scout, Lynxy, theyoungster1, and tommykins20 showed me the ropes. Nosliw was just promoted to Moderator and Alpha became Developer and soon after Admin. I loved the server so much that on my 5th day I was already VIP. In the next two weeks I donated to Super VIP. By May of that next year, I joined the staff as Moderator and was quickly promoted to Rainbow Moderator. About a year later in October 2013 I was promoted to Admin. I spent about 80% of my free time on the server the first few years. Now that I am back, I'm sure the adventures will continue.

I want to make this very clear: I'm still here because I see value in Innectis. I would have left Innectis long ago if I lost the desire or the value just didn't appeal to me anymore. I'm glad that you guys still show up, wanting to see what's new, that's nice!

I screwed up on something, and now need to reinstall the entire server just to put everything back together the right way... I deeply apologize for this, and want to make things right again. I'm up front about it, not going to hide it.

Not sure when we'll be back to normal, but I will post here when we are. I guess this is a good time to make everything the way it should be... given our state of activity and such, not a lot of people are going to miss the server right now. Currently backing up files so that I can quickly restore things when the server is reinstalled.

Since we had custom configurations, making sure they are backed up is important. I'd rather not re-install and miss some things that should have been there. Also, the database stopped functioning right for IDP when this happened, so that's why the server is in maintenance mode.

If you want to know more in-depth information than this, you can always talk to me personally. But for now, R.I.P. the server...

Edit: I estimate I can get everything done by tonight, if not tomorrow

Edit 2:

This means the following services are down:

  • Minecraft Server
  • Dynmap server map
  • Redmine (affects staff)

I should be able to restore these to full working order.

Edit 3: I setup a temporary vanilla server at game.innectis.net until everything can be resolved. This may be shut down or restarted at any time due to server maintenance.

Updated snapshot to 16w40a. Also, depending on activity (so far it hasn't been much) this might be the last time I'll keep this up, so if you haven't really tested 1.11 out, now's the time! I'm most likely going to shut this down before next snapshot unless more people go on it.
