A fresh start in survival sounds pretty good. I'm going to miss a couple of my old lots, but yeah, we've been stagnant for sometime.  The 1.9 vanilla world gave me quite the enjoyable time building a new place from scratch.  I think once the mourning period for the old lots pass it will be a breath of fresh air for everyone who comes along.

I'm pretty sure spamming in allcaps and repeatedly putting profanity in chat constitutes 'something'.  If I have to remove one more post from you, I will remove your ability to post on the forum.  Do yourself a favor and avoid making me regret the restraint I have already extended.

I'm under the impression that at the time we had voted, that vanilla was weighed as an option BEFORE the whole bukkit debacle was made public.  Under that assumption was that the temp server was expected to last no longer than any other version update.  With Bukkit informally dissolved it might be a good idea to consider another vote as to whether or not we revert back to the last version for the time being.

I'm having fun in vanilla so I really cant complain either way.

Hello there,

I decided to take a look into what's going on with this.  I do not know you, nor have I interacted with you to my memory during my time on innectis.  Let me preface this.  I dont even know who you are and from what you've written you acknowledge you've been banned several times.  But while you've mentioned 'issues' with you, you still attribute your actions to everyone but yourself.  I find this alone disturbing and very telling of your attitude and maturity level, and none of it good.

Having reviewed your past, that's an entirely different story.  You have 9+ Ban threads from pretty much every one of the staff members at the time.  Knowing some of them, Alpha in particular being a particularly forgiving individual, having banned you tells a lot.  All of them follow the same general note - You dont get along with people and you have anger/attitude issues.  Anger aside, when you lash out at players and refuse to obey staff when they tell you to calm down and they are forced to ban you, any 'provocation' you may have received is null and void.  Society doesn't throw people in jail who have issues, they throw the people who act out in jail.  You, and only you are responsible for your actions.  We all have our off days, but enough to get you banned 9 consecutive times?!  No.  The picture being painted is that you are toxic to this community and your fate was to be sealed when you got your indefinite ban.

That being said, it has been over a year.  I believe in forgiveness, and we periodically review and take people off our indefinite ban list.  Periodically being every several months or whenever we feel inclined to do so.  If you think you can demonstrate a modicum of control and behave yourself and assure me you will do so, I will personally appeal for your ban to be lifted.  This is not a guarantee by any means that any change will happen, and should it be lifted there is every chance you will be thrown right back out onto the permaban list at the first offense you commit thereafter.  What I can promise you is that in the chance that your permaban is lifted, should you somehow find yourself banned again, don't expect to come back.  Ever.  Food for thought.

What say you?

Yay OBZ congrats! It's been a long time coming. I know for certain you'll do a great job!
And as we OBZerve here, the wild Lynxy makes an appearance, we are almost certain we will not see this kind of activity for a long time.

And a good sign indeed! :P

Suggestions / Re: Some rules set on pvping?
« on: May 04, 2014, 08:56:46 PM »
There is an ever shifting view on PVP.  It is most certainly a distinct and necessary function.  It has little use in Innectis on whole for a variety of reasons, most importantly I believe that this is a 'community building' server.  Innectis is not a survival server.  It's in the name Innectis - 'Build this'

Yes, we do things other than build, and PVP related functions can and should be a part of it.  But if so it should be entirely voluntary and very regulated so it can not be abused.

On a personal note, I have to disagree on removing death penalties.  The gamer in me needs penalties.  Without penalties, there is no risk.  No risk means skill is not required.  Fights become battles of attrition - Who is willing to keep fighting longer.  Fights devolve into who gets bored first.  Penalties allow for reward to go with that risk.  You should be willing to lose something in order to stand to gain something, especially with other people getting involved.  To take that away makes it essentially pointless - Why would I want to kill someone if they just keep coming back and haven't lost anything?  If I beat you, you should NOT be able to just come back forever without me gaining from it. Skill should be awarded, and lesser players should be penalized if they fail against them.  Be it items, xp, vT, territory, whatever.

People get upset when they get beat in PVP.  Historically PVP has been a very poor venture on innectis except for limited events and organized games.  Part of it lies with the poor implementation of PVP combat with Minecraft as a whole.  The other part lies with the people participating in it.  We have a huge variety of people and age groups within our community and it is natural that maturity levels vary with it.  Innectis has some great PVP events to offer, with the class based combat and similar stuff held on event world.  But by no means is that the draw of the server, nor should it be promoted as such.

There are plenty of avenues to safely fight already in existence.  You can bank your stuff and pvp with set items already.  For that reason I cannot justify in my mind expending time, data, or man hours just to make something I see as a terribly shallow feature.  PVP as-is, or dont PVP at all.

I think that would definitely help.  I hate stripping things from players whenever it can be helped, and that seems like an excellent solution.

If it were possible to have a lava block instantly removed/deal no damage if it makes contact with a player within x seconds of being placed.  That  would seem like a very prudent way of dealing with it if at all possible.  That way it can still be used, but lost if used against someone.  This of course would only have the limitation of damaging someone potentially afk, but to that end you should probably avoid being afk somewhere unsafe...

Suggestions / Buckets and reszone
« on: March 18, 2012, 09:15:46 AM »
Alright, I bring this up merely because of recent events that I've both endured and observed.  What I'm talking about is the use of lava buckets as a weapon in innectis, more specifically in free building areas like freebuild and reszone.  As a player who takes reasonable precautions (I.E. Wears armor everywhere and executes situational awareness of players in my vicinity) I know it is simple enough to avoid/protect yourself.  I know killing players is usually permissible.  However, I cant help but voice concern over the usage of buckets with the intent to harm players in these areas.
A couple points toward this:
  • PVP is disabled in these areas
  • Many users lack the capability to defend themselves against this (I.E. Cannot use buckets/Lava buckets) due to rank.
  • Reszone was not created as warzone.  Hence Resource Zone
  • Lava buckets can be used instantly and indefinitely by players with permissions to use them
  • No matter where you go, players can be tracked with UI mods and even commands provided to us. (/locate)

My point is, these places were not made to allow fighting by default, and using a lava bucket to harm players is simply circumventing the PVP restriction. And people HAVE certainly been doing it.   I realize these are excellent tools in the right hands, but presently I see this act as simply a way to grief and harass players and get away with it.  I feel the 'killing is allowed on innectis' under these particular circumstances is not a fit course of action for dismissing the problem. Killing players may be allowed, but I think the only reasonable way would be if all players have a fair way to interact.  I move that we either enable PVP altogether, or find a reasonable way to stop lava buckets from affecting other players in these places.

Just a friendly concern with a suggestion to improve it for all.
