I'm suggesting a new command be added: /Quota
This command would tell you the status of your current Quotas in a format similar to this:
Coal: XX/XX
Iron Ore: XX/XX
Redstone:XX/XX
Lapiz Lazuli: XX/XX
Gold Ore: XX/XX
Diamond: 16/16 57:56 Until Quota Resets (<- The Time Left would only show after you've reached the quota)
(Not sure if all of these actually have Quotas, but w/e, just an example)
I think this command would be very helpful for those that mine a lot.
Also Adding onto this, maybe the server could Automatically send the player a message when a Quota is Reset, e.g. "Your ____ Quota has Been Reset!"
-
The quota time doesn't kick in when you hit the last ore. As soon as you mine one ore, the time is recorded. So say the diamond limit is 10; you mine 9 right away, then 59 minutes later you mine 1. Yuo've now reached your quota, but in 1 minute you will be able to mine 9 more again. So it will be hard to display how long until the quota resets..

Maby just say what you have mined out of the max within the last 60 mins?

Only lapiz and diamond have quotas.
Other than inflation, I don't see a use for quotas. The reszone gets reset now, so there's one less reason to have the quota.
-
The quota is there to help prevent xray pack users from gathering tons of valuable resources. The quota is what an average user would mine in a specific time. I believe its 16 diamond per hour at the moment, which is quite a lot.. if you use WE to mine why should the quota be any different?
Quota discussion can be found on this thead (http://archives.codespeak.org/innectis/forum/index.php/topic,683.msg2304.html)

So basically there's a timer on each ore separately? hmm....
In that case how about just throwing out the timer idea. Instead how about just showing the quota every time the current ore's quota changes?
For example, you mine 1 Diamond and you get a message "Diamond: 1/16", you mine another, "Diamond 2/16". And also have it show the quota whenever it subtracts a number?

I think displaying the current consumption with /quota would be quite useful, great idea.
-
+1 for /quota command, but I think showing a message every time you mine a block with a quota would be incredibly obnoxious.

Yeah...probably...now that I think about it more :-\

Why 16 though. That number seems random.

It's a relatively small, nice, round number. >_>
-
16 isn't random. The average diamonds per mining session is 0-3. That makes the quota 5x higher than the average player finds. Seems pretty fair to me...
And removing the timer is not a practical idea. That means the hour wait would kick in when you hit 16/16. What if you mine 15 diamonds over a span of 2 weeks, then hit a rich vein of 8 diamonds the next day? Quota..........!!

Well thing is guys, we want to keep the price for diamonds still high there are people who would go mining and come back with hundreds if they don't have a max. and also to block or minimize use of XRay which is BANNED.

TinyWE removes the ore completely, and doesn't give you anything at all.
-
Why is everyone saying tinyWE doesn't give you anything. It works 100% fine for me. It gives me all items as if I mined by hand, that includes ores.
There are two ways to mine with tinyWE
- /twset 0 - this removes everything and gives you items as if you mined them
- /twreplace <id> <id> - only mines / replaces what you want.
-
For some users at least, TinyWE is destroying without returning diamond, redstone, and coal ore. It will be fixed in the next IDP update.

maybe changing the quota timer to "Remaining time until amount drops:" indicating how much time left on the earliest ore block still included in the quota. Each time the timer hits zero, the amount towards quota will subtract one, then the timer will change to the time remaining on the next ore block mined (that ore block becoming the earliest mined that still counts toward quota).
