Title: A "poll station" on the server.
Post by: CanadianR on December 08, 2013, 01:37:09 PM
Well, I thought of this idea a little while back, but never decided to suggest it until now. Well, a decent number of people from the server are on the forums, but surprisingly it is not all. So, not everyone is able to express their voice on certain issues. But I feel if we have a actual lot (not a lot as in an amount) on the server where people can vote on important issues, or just random fun topics, it would help. Now you may say. "That is what the forums are for!", but this can work as another way, alongside the forums, where we can hear the community's voice. Plus, if there comes a day where another election is needed, if we do it on the server, then we can track who voted.
You don't need to take my idea word for word, but if you want to modify it a little, feel free.

We use to have a User Council that sort of voted on important issues directly relating to Non Staff Players. Eventually the Council died out. The non staff members nominated these representatives to well represent them. Too many Council members became staff and we were left with three non staff members, ChrisJones23, gohkamikaze, and whiteraven22. Since three isn't a large enough number, we removed the Council.

I heard about this before. Why not just promote more people when you find ones right? I'm sure eventually it will get back into full swing and everything will be fine within the council.

Yeah, that actually sounds like a decent idea to bring back, I would not mind that along side the idea I suggested. But we do need the right people for it, since if we have people with egos too big to listen or work alongside others then it would not work. As well, they need to be committed to helping the server and they should not see it as some sort of "power of authority and that they are now a boss."

Not only did your nominations play a role in the choosing of members, so did age and maturity. Most of the council members were ages 15 + and well known members of the server. We can't just add new people all willy nilly and all.

There is a /poll command, and it can be rank restricted, as well as multiple choice or open questions. It can provide rewards to players who select the correct multiple choice, I added it a while ago, but it was never really used..

There was never really proper instructions on it.

There was enough instruction for players to be able to use it, was a simple case of /poll list and /poll <ID> <answer>. There is no instructions on how to make a poll though, it has to be manually inserted into the database (I didn't finish adding that part)
