Hello everyone, It's me, gohKamikaze!
Recently, I was robbed of eight stacks of refined stone from my lot's furnaces. I won't mention names (although I have recorded the most likely suspect's username should the need arise to report them) but may I make a suggestion that furnaces may have a lock placed on them in a similar manner to chests? It pains me that a member of the Innectis community would willingly thieve from someone elses' lot, and I think it would be beneficial to prevent such happenings from occuring in future.
P.S. I have recovered the stone from the aforementioned suspect after watching them mess around with one of my furnaces, but he/she is requesting a six diamond payment in return.

Taking things out of others furnaces is not illegal. To avoid theift, put furnaces behing locked iron doors. Locked furnaces would be nice.

Kind of difficult to build an established online community with Immature pranksters running around stealing other peoples goods. On a pvp area actions like that would be the norm, if not even promoted. But in a friendly town environment it is unacceptable.

Although i do think its better to leave them unlocked, (then just hide them). But it seems that is just me..

Well then make them by default unlocked, and if someone wants to lock them, have the option there for it.

Jailout's idea is a good one. Like chests, have a lock/unlock to all players command that toggles the furnaces, default being unlocked and accessible to all players.
Anyway, this was just in regards to furnaces on lots and not the world overall - although I should have probably specified that :P

I was thinking of a system where the furnace would lock for the current player when it starts burning. Only that player can access it. When they remove the contents inside, it will unlock, being available to other players again. This could be abused though with people placing stuff in all your furnaces and never taking it out. Thoughts?

Idk, just because of the simple fact that people could abuse this by leaving items in the furnace seems like it could be a big problem.
If possible I think a system similar to how chests work could be good. (locked when placed for the user who places it, and can be modified to allow additional players if wanted)

I like Lynxys Idea.
Why Not -
If The Furnace Is On A Lot The User Owns / Is lot allowed on It can be locked when items are in. If others use it , it will stay unlocked even with items.
If the furnace is in a global location then it stays unlocked?
