Title: Ban appeal
Post by: aiden cool6 on May 12, 2013, 02:48:33 AM
Hello everyone. Aidencool6 here and I request a ban appeal. A lot has changed since I was banned and now which I will demostrate if you accept my appeal. I really miss innectis. I hope I can get back on. I know back when I was Innectis a long time ago I behaved quite badly. But as I said that has changed. If I ever mess up again I promise I will accept my perma ban and I won't ask for a ban appeal. If you reject this appeal. I understand. But I hope you could grant me this one chance. Now I know what you're going to say. I've had a lot of chances. That's true. I was really fortunate to have so many chances. Please consider this.

Aidencool6   :)

Coming on Josh1844 recentlyand telling me "00.1 aidencool6 is back" which resulted in an IPBan, which you even caused a bit of annoyance? Sorry aiden but no.

May I suggest a new way for ban appeals to work? The community not just the  staff decides. So the person who wants to be unbanned puts a question say: Should I be unbanned and there's only two options Yes and No. Whatever gets the majority is the outcome. Its a fair way of deciding if somebody should be unbanned.

Only that has the downside of the community not knowing the full extend of the reason the person was banned. I don't find this too appealing...

Yeah....I'm not too keen on the whole community deciding this important of stuff. Generally, the staff know why they're permabanning someone, and it's usually a good reason.

Staff are chosen because they can make decisions regarding players bans, but the rest of the community might not be able to see things without bias and such. Also someone might get unbanned because of they are popular with a certain group of people, this makes the ban pointless, and people that are popular skip punnishment.

No means no. But, if a staff is feeling lenient, maybe....just maybe...(if possible) we put you on probationary status and watch over you for like a week and see what happens?

I think ban appeals should have a poll so the staff can see what the community thinks, BUT the poll would have no effect on the final decision, as it is, and always should be, up to the staff to decide on the "appealee's" fate.

The poll would just be there to show the staff what we think.

Also, Aiden. No. Not only did you get yourself permabanned for being a nuisance, you deliberately connected using an alternate account and, surprise surprise, were a nuisance once again. Sorry, but I don't think you should be allowed to come back. You were permabanned and you should stay permabanned. If the staff unbanned you, then it would just show everyone that the staff can be convinced that a player who was exiled can just write an appeal and be let back.

It's called perma ban for a reason. We try our best to keep it that way. With regards to talking about community having an impact in unbanning perma banned players, please make a post in suggestions, this isn't really the place for this.

Sorry, but even the staff do tend to have a bias at times.

* Apologies for off-topic-ness *

This is off topic a bit, but I feel it should be mentioned.

If we let the players choose to unban players, we will eventually get the blame if it does go wrong.
We tried this before, around a year ago, didn't go well...

The community can give its concerns or support by replying to the thread with a little more detail, a simple 'yes' or 'no' does not reflect accurately what the community actually thinks and would not offer much help.

Please. Apart from being my number one fav server. I have changed and my previous immature behavior is gone. I've been fortunate with my chances before but could you grant me this last one. As I said with fore I understand if no is your answer. But please.  :)

The problem with this is that despite the results being non-binding, we'd most likely have a miniature riot on our hands if the staff went against the community's wishes.

Aiden, if you screwed up enough for a permaban then another chance isn't really worth handing over. Do you think that repeat criminal offenders are let out of prison because they've 'changed this time around'?

If I had a penny for every time a boy or persons said they've changed...I'd be ... well not here ahha!

I'm sorry aiden but it seems like both the staff and the players want your ban to stay permeant. As much as I would like to give you a second chance I think a permeant ban should stay permeant. I dream of a server where nobody has to be banned but sadly that can not happen, maybe if you thought about your actions then this ban would of not of taken place but maybe one day you willl really change and then we can see if the staff and the community will give you a second chance.
