Title: Perma Bans - guidelines
Post by: gohkamikaze on February 15, 2013, 07:04:24 AM
Hey everyone,

During a discussion on perma-bans in another thread, Eggnaug proposed this idea:

I do agree that the current perma banned players should not receive another chance. Remember the topic we discussed about removing ranks from players players who get banned frequently as a punishment before perma ban? Perhaps we could incorporate a 2 month ban with this and after the two month ban, if the person acts up again perma ban them.

I, for one, think this is a brilliant idea. So does ChrisJones. What are your thoughts?

That's a good idea as 2 months will give them a good time to think about what they have done. But they might forgot about us, just a idea but add all there previous ban lengths and that's how long they will be banned for.

I agree with this. However, I feel the ban system overall will need more structure before this can be effectively in-place. And I do believe this will be the case actually very shortly.

Already stated my opinion, And I shan't be casting a vote. Whatever the community decides, I'm fine with.

I'm guessing a demotion is basically like for me going from Goldie to Super, If you did that then your making users bribe there way back in after to get Goldie. Nope.avi

Yeah, that's a slight flaw in the system... What about a permanent demotion? If you've been demoted then you cannot climb the ranks again, no matter how much you beg or plead or cry or donate. Of course, you can still donate to the server if you want to, but it won't get you anywhere as far as ranks are concerned.

That's just an idea btw, for once I don't actually have any serious convictions either way. What do you guys reckon?

Just vote for a different change to the system, and then specify here. What did you have in mind?

Also, from what we've gathered here I think it's reasonable to assume that the current system is indeed in need of some sort of change.

Well I think there should not be a demotion as that is loosing real money! and instead of 2 months ban time you should have all your previous ban times added up and that will be your ban time. Then the next ban you get is a perm.

I believe this topic was to get the opinions of the community before an ultimate decision is made by Hretsam.

Indeed. As the community, we can't actually make changes to the server. The idea was to see what everyone thought about the current perma-ban system. What Hretsam decides to do with these opinioms is down to him.

Just an idea, but I think it would be a good idea to add your previous ban time to your current ban time and once it hits 2 months, your next will be perm. Example:

(Assuming 2 months is 61 days)

1st ban: Player X was banned for 3 days.
2nd ban: Player X was banned for 4 days + 3 days, 7 days.
3rd ban: Player X was banned for 10 days + 7 days, 17 days.
4th ban: Player X was banned for 6 days + 17 days, 23 days.
5th ban: Player X was banned for 15 days + 23 days, 38 days
6th ban: Player X was banned for 10 days + 38 days, 48 days.
7th ban: Player X was banned for 7 days + 48 days, 55 days.
8th ban: Player X was banned for 7 days + 55 days, 62 days.
9th ban: Player X was permabanned.

The amount of bans wouldn't matter, unless it was over 20 or something else, but rather on the amount of time banned.

Or

Instead of adding your previous ban to your current ban, your total ban time would be added and if it hits over 61 days, you get permabanned.

1st: 3 days
2nd: 15 days
3rd: 14 days
4th: 10 days
5th: 6 days
6th: 12 days
7th: 5 hours
8th: 2 days
___________
62 days and 5 hours total

9th: Permaban
