Title: Reducing vT from Mobs
Post by: Eggnaug on July 06, 2012, 11:07:28 PM
Some people are saying that vT prices are too low and the results from these low prices takes away from the survival aspect of the server. I suggest lower some of the gained vT from Mobs.

This should promote inflation in the economy. The vT would be worth more.

Some people are saying that vT prices are too low and the results from these low prices takes away from the survival aspect of the server. I suggest lower some of the gained vT from Mobs.

  • Animals - 1vT
  • Zombies - 3vT
  • Skeletons - 3vT
  • Slime - 4vT
  • Creeper - 4vT]
  • Zombie Pigmen - 4vT
  • Blaze - 4vT
  • Endermen - 5vT
  • Ghast - 5vT
  • Magma Cube - 5vT

This should promote deflation in the economy. The vT would be worth more.

Here's what I think the vT for each mob should be:

Animals - 1vT
Zombies - 1vT Very easy to kill and very common.
Skeletons - 2vT Also common
Slime - 1vT Keep in mind these split up into smaller slimes, so the biggest natural slime could be 11-16vT
Creeper - 3vT
Zombie Pigmen - 2vT These are pretty easy to get big groups of, which is why I think 2 ea would be fair
Blaze - 3vT I think the current vT for blazes is fine considering they're the only spawner mob that gives vT
Endermen - 5vT
Ghast - 6vT Raised this a bit because these can be annoying to hunt.
Magma Cube - 2vT Also low because of the splitting.
Silverfish - 1vT This could make finding a stronghold more valuable (iffy about this one though)
Giant - 20vt Since this can only be spawned in this could reszone event mob (Maybe have an admin spawn giants in reszone sometimes?)

Also, it should promote inflation of vT, not deflation. (which is what we need)
It would make the Mob-Diamond price more equivalent. I'd already feel better if the current diamond price (30vt) was equal to at least 30 zombies.

What if we got vT for mining certain ores?

This would make vT more easily available and might make diamond prices even lower.

People who farm vT for me to update them are going to be quite upset.

Or maybe they would try to start selling items at a higher price?  :P

I don't think they have shops.

I don't think they have shops.

But if someone got tired of mob farming they might try to earn vT with shops by opening one?

All of this isn't really guaranteed to go according to my predictions though. :)

Heck, it's even possible that people might do the complete opposite and lower shop prices even more to match the new vT-Mob ratio, thus causing the overall prices to drop even further.

If we got vT for mining ores wouldnt that boost the economy?
eg:

5vT For mining Diamond
2vT for mining Iron
3vT for mining Lapis
4vT for mining Gold
1vT for mining Coal
2vT for mining Redstone

I do agree that vT are way to easy to farm (I buy a lot more diamond than I mine nowadays) and the amount per kill should be lowered.  The suggestion SGT_ADZ made about ores is bad for two reasons.  First, it would cause hyperinflation due to the massive amounts of vT everyone would be gaining all the time, which is exactly what reducing kill-based vT would help solve.  Second, it would make all mineral and mined material shops obsolete, because people would all go back to mining it so they could get more vT with the ore, rather than spending vT to acquire the ore, so buying the items would become inefficient except in the most time-sensitive situations.

SGT we want inflation, not deflation. Prices go up and vT goes down making, for example, diamonds more valuable. Right now the server is experiencing deflation. Lots of money which loses value when more and more comes and none of it is spent which causes prices to drop. I'm not in economics but you can learn this in history class too. Just not as in depth. =D

Cheers,
