Transporting Neutral Mobs
« on: March 21, 2012, 09:57:07 PM »
Using a fishing rod, players can transport animals or villagers from one location to another. It's actually quite simple.

Just like you can fish by right-clicking water, just right-click a mob (you don't even need to be directly next to the mob, so long as the bobber can reach the mob) and the mob will be sent to your caught mob list. To put them in a new area, simply left-click the target block (must be the top face of a block, or directly on the surface) and the mobs will be transported to the new location.

To clear your caught mob list, type /cca, or /clearcaughtanimals.

This only works on areas that aren't lots, or lots that you own.

Could you allow it to be used on lots that you're lotallowed on too?

Or at least make the animal "placing" work anywhere? For easier selling of animals.

OR, for super convenience, I don't get why this isn't allowed, when you capture, you get a spawn egg for them, why not do that?

Spawn eggs are creative mode only so it is considered a rare item. As you know, rare items can only be obtained when a staff member holds a contest.

I agree with Zer0K and Zezarict i think we should make them a popular and common item on the server it would be so much more fun cause then we can place then i house and they can me house guards or something like that.

The way the transport system currently is set up, you can only transport animals/villagers to your own lot. Spawn Egg would allow you to transport them anywhere on the map. However, spawn eggs would be a neat shop item.

I also like the spawn Eggs idea, Spawn Eggs only work once in survival mode correct?

I would rather have the animal made into a physical item that can be stored in chests and stuff when you use a fishing rod on them. I also agree with Egg, they would be a great shop item :D

The thing about spawn eggs is that they can also be put in dispensers and stuff, so the item itself is alot more flexible and can be used for other things.

If we did allow Spawn Eggs to be used like this, you realize we would still limit where you can place the animal? Eg you can't place it on lots you aren't allowed on. That's basically griefing/harassment

Here's a solution I have: a command to transfer your caught entities to another player. That way, they can dump them off in their lots.

But why do spawn eggs HAVE to be a rare item? I can't think of any serious consequences if they weren't...
