It is illegal unless it's solicited by his server list somewhere, like perhaps his privacy policy. However, it would also need to be noted on each of the servers that use his server list, otherwise players can still make an argument about it because they "didn't know that server was using his list so they didn't know they would be tracked".
I'm also not an expert on law, but that would make the most legal sense to me...
Sciamancer:
There are plenty of companies that track your every movement online. It is not illegal. How do you think targeted advertising works?
Now, displaying those results, I have no clue about the legality of that, but I doubt the government cares about your privacy enough to enact a law that hurts its precious corporate sponsors.
zer0k:
I don't think it would be illegal in the US, not sure about other countries.
ryanteck:
Well the website would fall mainly under British (And EU I guess?) And possibly american laws.
I got told about MCBans which track and records a different set of data.
They record people with a ban level allowing bans from other servers to go across other servers.
They do have an interesting privacy policy which i might need to make my own version off,
Theres is at http://mcbans.com/privacy
Lynxy:
Look at Google. Many sites use their statistic/ad tracking, so even if you never visit a Goggle site you are still tracked by them. They get away with it
