Regarding the End/End Portal

The end stone is mineable, BUT you need to get out of the end alive with the materials, if you die in the end then all your items drop.. Although defeating the ender dragon isn't that great a challenge if you come prepared. I agree with what yoursaying, to add challenge to finding the end, it should only be enabled in Resource Zone. Also, I believe that the end portals are open 1 hour every 2 weeks, however you can open the end by force if you throw a dragon egg into the portal!

When I fought the EnderDragon on my legit survival SP world, he didn't even deal me damage....

The use of a dragon egg to open the End is kind of redundant don't you think? I mean you go the the End to kill the Dragon to get the Egg to open the portal to kill the Dragon to get the Egg......

It allows staff to open up the end, perhaps for events? Also, you could collect endstone from it? :P It used to be that you got 3 dragon eggs but it was then realized you could use one to re-enter and get another two, and so on..
