News / Upgrades

With this new forum comes a new layout, and hopefully more categories to choose from. With the addition of this forum upgrade, we will hope to continue to bring more and more people to this site.

As requested from James, I archived the forums from our last version of IPB (3.1.1) found here: http://archive.codespeak.org

Wouldn't it be more prudent to merge all the posts and topics from those old forums into these new ones? Thus, it would be easier for new members to sift through previous useful information. I'm sure there is a way to reach this endeavor.

Introductions / John Here

[quote name='John' timestamp='1296053352' post='18']

Well, to start things off, if you couldn't tell, my name is John. I have had various AKAs over the last few years (Kiatos, Khotarue, FireFox, Camaro, Yuki-Onna, SpiceandWolf, MD5 and John[FUSE]).

Some of my interests include programming (in process of learning), web/graphic design, mountain biking, writing, listening to cute Japanese music, photo-shopping ecchi drawings and watching exotic Anime shows. Eventually, I will be starting a website to publish several of my short stories that I have been working on over the course of several years. This is not so much as to gain recognition, but rather to inspire future writers that dreams are not impossible.

To let everyone know, I do have basic average of PHP, but I have decent knowledge of HTML & MySQL, and as such, I manage my own site and am working on the epic DataGnome bot.

When its' done, I'll start advertising it =D

And one last thing:

I am CodeSpeak's resident ban hammer and MartyT.Support@Blizzard. I ban any and all idiots that require a ban, as well as their respective CD-Keys, accounts, IPs, VPSs and characters.

Fixed. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Although, the spell-checking tool of these forums deemed "Anime" and "ecchi" to be non-existent words. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

Hello John, my name is Josh, or you may call me Beans if you prefer.  I too have had various names.  Some of them are Beansofham[CBK] (was a member of the original CBK), MeatyBuffer, BlueEye and some others I can not remember at the moment.

My interests too include computer programming and like graphic design, one of my interests are web design (even though I absolutely hate image editing programs), exercise and reading.

I have some basic knowledge of PHP, and very little of MySQL.  Right now I'm concentrating on Java.  I am good with HTML 4 and CSS though.  I also have some experience with it in SkillsUSA (competed and got to State in high school) and have basic knowledge of JavaScript.  My favorite editor for coding is Notepad++.  It is not a IDE, but it is a helpful text editor which will highlight your code to make it easier to read.  You can also customize your styles (the color, or backgrounds of how your code appear) or you can create your own layout entirely.

I think you are a interesting person.

Thank you for keeping our channel clean of trash. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Also, I think your goal to publish a Web site is a great idea!

Great introduction! Although, you should've created your own separate thread in this section of the forums. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I like the one with the Afleck-styled duck the most. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Off-topic: Beans, have you viewed our old forums at http://archive.codespeak.org ? I think it has some very useful information in there even though we are not posting on these forums instead.

HTML code  is disabled on almost every forum out there today, including this one,  for security reasons, so no HTML code will work.  You have to use BB  code.  It has been created specifically for forums and online  discussions, plus BB code is easier to learn compared to HTML.  I only  need to know a couple BB code tags, but on a quick search, http://www.bbcode.org/reference.php  seems to be a good reference for you to learn BB code from if you are  interested in using it in the near future.  If not all, most of it  should work on this, and just about every other forum out there.  I hope  this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

If the above image doesn't show, I'll have to look into this sometime later.

Very hilarious! Please post similar pictures of that! http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

[quote name='John' timestamp='1295978113' post='14']

Actually,  HTML Code is disabled per USERGROUP OR FORUM, not just on the forum.  Admins can post HTML most anywhere. I will look into the ACP as soon as I  get a moment.

Edit: It is enabled for this forum AND for Admins.

John, thanks for rectifying this issue. I appreciate it.  I hopefully  will learn more about IPB 3.1 via a tutorial on TeamViewer with you when  the time for me and you is appropriate. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

In the meantime, we should convince every member of CodeSpeak to continue posting in this thread and in our overall forums. http://codespeak.org/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Let's assist with enhancing forum activity by posting any comical or  "fail" pictures in this thread. The pictures can be ripped off from another board, "Googled" or user-generated via Adobe Photoshop.

However, you must follow the below guidelines and refrain from:

1) Posting pornography of any kind; this includes but is not limited to nudity, bestiality, child pornography, hentai, ecchi or lolicon.

2) Political cartoons that endorse or bash a specific political party or propaganda belief.

3) Religion-condemning material.

4) Sensitive or semantic material; this includes but is not limited to Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 or USA school shootings.

5) Any controversial topic; this includes but is not limited to 9/11 conspiracy theories, abortion or illegal immigration.

6) Narcotic- or alcohol-endorsing material.

7) Flaming other users' pictures or engaging in trolling

8) Wandering off-topic from the topic

9) Posting cliche one-line remarks such as "lol", "haha", "epic", "moar pics please", etc.

10) Blood and gore.

11) Images that depict a stereotype towards a particular ethnic group, culture or gender.

[color="#ff0000"]Users who violate the above guidelines will have their images and/or posts swiftly removed by a moderator and/or may face severe infractions.[/color]

Thanks.

Let me start off this thread with computer-related comical pictures.

[size="2"]For some reason, the pictures won't show up in this thread instead of links. John, if you're able to help me out with this, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

~James

I tried HTML and used the "Insert Image" button in the reply console. I also tried to wrap the uploaded ImageShack links in IMG tags.
