Later on tonight, i will go through the process of restoring my computer to factory default settings. I will be redirecting VectorJBLS.no-ip.org to Alendar.no-ip.org before I do, so you will still be able to use my address, for those of you who use that JBLS.

I am SOL until tonight. I ended up deleting my recover partition on accident (I did put the computer back to factory default, but it was giving me weird symbols when rebooting. Didn't think of restoring the MBR, which probably would have fixed it :\)

I have a bad windows XP install disc, which wouldn't copy some files which were crucial to installing XP.

Just a little bit ago, I had Cory burn me a fresh copy of the Windows XP Pro SP2 install CD, so tonight I will be able to re-install XP, and then at least put JBLS, and my web server back up.

I just happened to make a mistake at home that I will never want to make at a real job..

Joel, welcome to the world of IT. It sucks, doesn't it? (And I am not licensed or trained, hell I am not even certified by someone who is to even work on computers.)

John, that is EXACTLY what I think.

The sad truth: Techs have way more problems with their computers than the typical end user would, because we like to experiment A LOT. Thing is, I wouldn't ever want to do this on a job, so its better that I make mistakes that I won't soon replicate at home, so I don't have to go through the nightmare of possibly having it happen at work.

I freaking owned windows. First of all, I found a working key in the UNATTEND.txt file in the i386 folder on the installation CD. This key, however, had invoked the 30-day activation period. I then searched, and found a way to hack the registry so that the system was actually activated. This method actually worked.

PWNED! My computer is back
