There should be a second port for a monitor in the back of your computer (likely near the first). Attach the cord to the computer then to the second monitor.

Right click your desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Make sure your monitors are properly aligned and marked as attached.

Most computers don't come with the ability to connect multiple monitors unless they have a graphics card separate from the motherboard.

It has to usually to be a good Graphics Card. I would have them on mine, but i need a dongle for it.

Also, some graphics cards come built-in with the capability to have more than one monitor interface.

You can always get another graphics card, and the mutli-monitor capability of XP will kick in. You would then do what Hero suggested (go to "Settings" Tab). And you'll find a drop-down list of all current monitors connected to your computer. Select the one you just attached, and click "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor".

It will then extend the desktop onto that monitor.

This sounds totally nooby...But you have to go buy one yes?  There isn't a DL to 'override' needing the second Card?

Unless you have a video card with multiple interface for monitors you cannot do dual montiors with a desktop. If you plug one into the video card, the other one would have to be plugged into the motherboard. So without that dongle, you are stuck with one. Unless like i said, your video card has multiple interfaces. Or if its a laptop.

Oh.. and if the alignment of those monitors doesnt suit you, try drag&drop
(Standart is.. 2nd monitor right i guess. some like it to be on the lift side, i however, not. )
